The Font Technology section of the sidebar narrows the list to the Variable fonts, whose design moves along axes such as weight or width, or to the Colour fonts, whose glyphs carry their own colours. The first time a kind is picked Fontmatrix opens each font once to find out; the answer is then kept until the collection changes.
